How to use a black screen for display testing

  1. Open the screen tool and choose the color you want to inspect.
  2. Enter fullscreen so browser controls do not distract you.
  3. Set comfortable brightness and inspect the display from a normal viewing distance.
  4. Look for unusual pixels, uneven brightness or visible light around the edges.
Important: A screen test can help you notice visible issues, but it cannot diagnose every display problem.

Is this a real black screen?

Yes. The testing area uses a pure black background by default. You can also switch to other solid colors.

Can I use it on a phone?

Yes. The page is responsive and can be used on phones, tablets, laptops, monitors and TVs with a compatible browser.

Can a black screen find dead pixels?

It can help you inspect the display, but a black screen alone cannot identify every type of dead or stuck pixel. Testing multiple solid colors is more useful.

Can I make the screen fullscreen?

Yes. Use the Fullscreen button or press F while the page is active.

Does the timer turn the monitor off?

No. The timer changes the ScreenBlack tool state after the selected period; it does not control your monitor's power.
